With just under two weeks to go until Mother’s Day, I have been searching online for the perfect gift. Do you want to treat your Mom to something special – something she will love?

Being a mom myself, I now know all about the responsibility it brings… and I certainly appreciate the thought that goes into finding a gift, but it’s not always easy to track down something that really shows your gratitude.

That’s why I’ve created this Mother’s Day gift guide to help those of us that are searching for that special gift but lacking inspiration or are simply short on time.

But first I want to share a quick story with you about my first mother’s day. (I must warn you, the day itself was not a happy one, feel free to scroll past if you don’t want to read)

I headed to the Birmingham Women’s Hospital as I had every day for 5 months. (Before you ask why I didn’t stay, I lived quite close to the hospital to qualify for accommodation on site) and upon arriving, was told that my son was not doing well, the doctors had been in many times in the night. I took to getting him washed and changed, but when I took off his clothes it was clear he was really struggling.

The next part happened so quickly, so it’s mostly a blur… but the doctors came, he was x-rayed and cannulas inserted, hooked back up to the high-flow oxygen machine and transferred back to NICU (neonatal intensive care). By this time I was in tears because I thought he was doing well but the doctors were telling me he still might never get out of the hospital.

Me and my Son

He did… and he’s now 5 years old. He fought all the way and proved every one of them doctors wrong.
